There’s something quite nice about evenings like this… a gentle feeling to them, hard to pin down, but you know it when you’re there.
The Cromer Twinning AGM 2026 had that familiar feel to it… people coming together again, as they have done over the years.
It was so great to see people coming together again… just as they have done over the years… maintaining something that clearly means a great deal to so many.
The Annual General Meeting of the Cromer Twinning Association was held on Thursday, 19th March 2026 at the Suffield Park Bowls Clubhouse… somewhere we have visited many times over the years, and it felt just right for an evening such as this. It went somewhat like clockwork, which is perhaps befitting of the Association.

Apologies were received from several members and invited guests who were unable to attend. Those present were welcomed by Chair Mike Bossingham, joined by Ann Bossingham, Leslie Hawkes, Stuart and Evelyn Meakin, Sue Taplin, Sue Dye, David Stevens, Anne Fairchild and Angela Wrighton.
The minutes from the previous AGM, held in March 2025, were agreed as a correct record… a small but important thread of continuity.
Mike Bossingham then presented his Chair’s report, adding a little further detail to what had already been shared with members beforehand. There were no queries, only silence and appreciation for the work done throughout the year.
The Treasurer came next, setting out the accounts for the year ending December 2025. The meeting carried on at ease, with everything having been shared in advance.
Elections were conducted smoothly.
Mike Bossingham was re-elected as Chair. Sue Dye continues as Vice Chair, Angela Wrighton as Secretary, and Stuart Meakin as Treasurer. Committee members David Stevens, Sue Taplin, Leslie Hawkes, Andreas Yiasimi, Ann Bossingham and Anne Fairchild were also returned unopposed.
Peter Bullimore was re-elected as Independent Accounts Examiner.
Minor amendments to the Constitution of the Association were proposed and agreed upon. This will allow it to continue to reflect what is required of it, without losing the original ethos which was put in place at the start.
Cromer Twinning AGM 2026 and the Year Ahead
Lots to look forward to.
There’s something rather special being planned for June.
Cromer is preparing to have a Friendship Weekend with an expectation of having about 15 guests from our twin towns, namely Crest, Nidda, and Ponte San Nicolò, which we reflected on more fully during a recent visit here. It seems to coincide well with the 125 years of Cromer Pier.

And, as ever, it’s the host families who really bring it all to life… opening their homes, sharing a bit of Cromer as it truly is, and making everyone feel part of it all.
That same spirit has been felt closer to home, too, as we touched on during the recent Cheese and Wine gathering in Cromer.

We also hope to visit Crest in September, and spaces are available for up to ten people.
Other highlights through the year will be Cromer Crab and Lobster Festival, Remembrance, Christmas, etc.
Meeting closed at 8.00pm.
No big statements… just a shared understanding that the work continues, connecting Cromer with its friends across Europe.
For those who would like to know more about the Cromer Twinning Association or even join the organisation, they can get in touch with Angela Wrighton by telephone on 01263 577646 or even through her e-mail awrighton21@gmail.com.
There’s always room for a few more friendly faces… new members are very much welcome.
